Think Wood is offering post-secondary educators and students the opportunity to experience the lifecycle of wood construction firsthand.

This unique opportunity is designed to help bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world application through direct exposure to the wood construction lifecycle. By engaging with industry professionals and visiting active sites, participants gain practical insights into the wood value chain, deepening their understanding of materials, processes, and professional career pathways. These experiences also support stronger curriculum development and create lasting educational value for both students and faculty.

Faculty in architecture, engineering, or construction management programs are invited to submit proposals for sponsorships of up to $5,000 to support class travel to local mills, forests, fabricators, and wood buildings. Visits may include one or multiple destinations, focusing on strengthening student understanding of the wood value chain, from forestry and milling to design and construction. Need help finding a host for the field trip? Contact education@thinkwood.com with your name, program, and school, and we may be able to assist.

Sponsorships are awarded at Think Wood’s discretion on a first-come, first-served basis throughout 2026 until the funding is committed. Travel must occur in 2026, and applicant institutions must be U.S.-based. Proposals should be submitted by EOD Friday, September 25, to allow time for execution. Sponsorship funding may be used towards costs related to the field trip, including transportation, PPE, and meals.
